Try it: tap any word
Hola, me llamo Ana. Vivo en una casa pequeña cerca del mar. Cada mañana bebo café y leo un libro.
Tap any purple word. Purple means it's new to you.
How it works
New words stick when you meet them in a story you can follow. Here's how every lesson makes sure you can.
Football, baking, your job, a trip you're planning. Anything you'd like to read about.
A short, natural story on your topic, made mostly from words you already know, with a few new ones to learn.
Tap any word to see what it means, hear it said aloud and mark how well you know it. A picture helps you along.
Every word you mark is remembered, so each new lesson is pitched at what you know now.
Your level
Two learners ask for a story about football. One is just starting, the other has been reading for months. Each gets a story they can follow.

Level 5 · a few months inAunque llovía a cántaros, el estadio estaba lleno una hora antes del partido. Nuestro equipo empezó perdiendo, pero en los últimos minutos el delantero marcó dos goles seguidos y la afición lo celebró hasta bien entrada la noche.
Although it was pouring with rain, the stadium was full an hour before the match. Our team started off losing, but in the last few minutes the striker scored twice in a row and the fans celebrated late into the night.
There are six reading levels, from a few short sentences up to longer, richer texts. Your level rises as you learn words, and after each lesson one tap tells Polylengua if it was too hard or too easy.
Features
New, don't know, sort of, known. Every lesson shows how much of it you already understand, and how that's grown since you first read it.

Lessons come with a picture. Tap a word like tren and the picture lights up the train, so you understand it without translating.
Themes that share vocabulary sit together, so your next topic reuses words you've just learnt.

heat
Each day you read warms your flame. Miss a day and it cools a little. It never drops straight back to zero.
Listen to a whole lesson read aloud, or hear any word on its own with one tap.
Languages
Learn one, or several at once. Each has its own level, words and flame.

A note from the creator
I learnt most of my Spanish through : reading and listening to things I could mostly understand. Now I'm learning Polish and Greek, and there are many more languages I'd love to learn, so I need a way of learning that works and that I'll actually keep up.
The hard part has always been finding that input. Most of what I found was either too hard to follow or too dull to finish, and the apps that were easy to stick with were built around keeping a streak going, not around learning.
I built Polylengua to make that input for you. You choose exactly what to read about, whatever your reason for learning, and every lesson is written at your level. No more searching for something that fits: it's made to fit.
